Met Gala Meets Wallpaper
Monday Night's Met Gala featured quite a controversial theme of “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.” This theme was designed to create a dialogue between high-fashion and religious masterpieces in the museum's possession. The exhibition will be presented in, of course, the Anna Wintour Costume Center, the medieval galleries at the Met’s Fifth Avenue location, and other uptown at the Cloisters.
Although the theme centered around Catholicism and religious icons, we could not help but notice that many of the "Best Dressed" reminded us of beautifully designed ... wallpaper! We know that Gigi Hadid's custom Versace was depicting stain glass windows, but there was also something about it that reminded us of Michael Williamson's beaded peacock wallpaper at Osborne & Little. And Salma Hayak's look was as beautiful as De Gournay's 'Jardinieres & Citrus Trees' design. The more we watched, the more interior designs started coming to mind. Check out some of our favorite "Wallpaper meets Fashion" looks from this years Met Gala 2018:
